RAJ MODI
Hi, I’m Raj. I’m a South Asian clothing designer, I run the least pretentious fashion magazine “The Collector”, and I make some videos too. I’ve loved fashion since I was 15 years old. I’ve always dreamt of telling the story of my Indian American heritage through clothing, but that story is just getting started. There are, however, so many incredible South Asian brands who are already creating beautiful pieces that I absolutely love and you have to appreciate the art. Here are some pieces I absolutely love from Society of Cloth.
Kissa-Goi
Black Linen Lounge Pants
These are simply a beautifully made linen trouser. 100% European Linen. Drawstrings around the waist. A wider leg fit. These are beautiful. Styling these is easy. Extremely easy. It’s a black trouser, anything from a nice tee shirt to a blazer (ideally linen) would do.
MARGN
Epidermis Crochet Applique Trouser - Off-White
This trouser is absolutely incredible. I’m an absolute sucker for crochet. There really is something so elegant about it. Using it in the traditional double knee silhouette is so creative. Styling these with black or brown boots (either formal or casual), and a neutral colored top (whether that’s a sweater or shirt) is how I would wear it.
JODI
Barot Waistcoat
Oh you thought I forgot about the ladies? Absolutely the freaking heck not. Hand printed in Jaipur. This thing is absolutely beautiful. Styling this piece is pretty easy, and honestly they did a really good job in the shoot but if you’re feeling like wearing a layer under a vest a white/black long sleeve would look great.
