The holidays are around the corner and you, like myself, are trying to remember the hobbies, favorite foods, and niche interests of the people you love the most. Did they say tiramisu or carrot cake was their favorite? Did they actually end up signing up for that marathon? What's their zodiac sign again? Luckily, once you remember the critical facts, you can leave the rest to us.
Welcome to the SOC Holiday Gift Guide, curated by our team. Let's get into it.
For the tropical vacation enthusiast
Off-White Staple Linen T-Shirt ($70) & Beige Embroidered Linen Pants ($94) by Kissa-goi. Ships in 7-10 days
The slouchy, relaxed fit of this shirt paired with the linen material is what makes it so unique to me. If you're getting away from this frigid weather and going straight to the beach, you're going to want something that you can slip into or throw a jacket over before dinner. The navy and red embroidery on the hem of the trousers also make them perfect to pair with a navy loose-knit sweater like this one from AMI Paris.
For the Pisces in your life
Wonder Mogra Danglers ($108 for brass, $194 for sterling silver) by surmeyi. In-store at SOC NY or ships in 2-3 days
The idea for this gift actually came from multiple people that came into the store and bought these earrings for themselves or another Pisces they know. People with the sign, represented by two swimming fish, are known to be intuitive and highly creative, characteristics that the fluidity and elegant nature of these earrings match well. IMO they're also the perfect piece that are fun and noticeable enough to add a spark to an outift, but not so large that you can't wear them on an everyday basis.
For the one who's always throwing the ball around
Cow Corner, a magazine by Vikram Valluri ($25). Exclusively in-store at SOC NY
The second I saw photos of this zine, I knew we needed it in the store. Photographer Vikram Valluri traveled through India during the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2023 to capture how the reach of the sport extends way beyond the stadium events. For anyone picking up Cow Corner with little to no knowledge of cricket, Vikram says, "this zine is as much for you as it is for lifelong fans. My aim was to document the joy, culture, and chaos that sports inspire. It just happens to be cricket in India during the World Cup."
For your friend who can't be bothered to iron a shirt
Actin Wrinkled Stripe Shirt - BE ($295) by MARGN. Ships in 7-10 days
If we're being so real, I am that friend. And there are many days (more than I'd like to admit) that I will not wear a shirt just because it's wrinkled and I'm running too late to steam or iron it. It's gotten to the point that I stray away from buying shirts that require ironing before each wear. Luckily, this shirt allows you to accept the wrinkle in its entirety, given that they are pre-stiched into the shirt. And with the neutral beige color, it fits perfectly into the just-throw-it-on part of your wardrobe.
For the mango fiend
Mango Harness ($68 for brass, $144 for sterling silver) by surmeyi. In-store at SOC NY or ships in 2-3 days
This piece is special because it's not just a bracelet or ring, but an elegant jewelry piece that's the combination of the two. I own it in the silver and it looks great paired with a more structured cuff bracelet or on its own with a small pair of earrings like these Mango Leaf Hoops. Plus, I love what surmeyi has done with their entire Mango Bagicha collection, creating pieces that all have mango motifs on them but they're subtle enough to only be noticeable if you look closely.
Happy holidays and happy gift giving!
